With the current relationship that Uber has created with drivers, drivers often cannot take days off, much less go on vacation. Yet having time off to spend with family or just to relax is essential to human well-being. If the legal actions that are seeking to reclassify Uber drivers into employees succeed, then drivers may finally be able to gain vacation time without sacrificing the ability to pay living expenses. However, even if these lawsuits do not succeed, drivers can demand better pay from the company through a united drivers’ organization. By putting pressure on the company to improve the contract with drivers, drivers might be able to earn enough to live on and even be able to take time off without risking their financial stability. This is a basic right that all workers should have.
